Empowering Century 21 Learners

Welcome to the Rick Hansen Secondary School Book Study. This group is made up of educators who want to find solutions to challenges and Change the Culture of their school. We are determined to learn, collaborate and shift the mindset to one that is more Culturally Responsive, Equitable, Empathetic and leads with Social Justice rather than punishment.

Our group meets every 2 weeks. We read the chapters, post quotes from the book, discuss big ideas that resonate from the readings, identify challenges we are faced with and how the book provides new solutions that we can implement in our own classroom and in school-wide policy.

We are doing this book study synchronously, however we are providing our resources so you can follow asynchronously as an independent and still feel like you are part of a Community of Practice (CoP). The resources you can access freely here are the recordings of our Video Meetings, Big Ideas of the meeting in a document and further reflection of those ideas in a Podcast created by members of the book study.
